New Delhi. Indo Islamic Heritage Center (IIHC) organised a Webinar on “Exploring the Historical and Cultural Links between India, Egypt, and the Evolution of Urdu Language”.
Speaking to the Webinar Dr. Walaa Jamal El Esseily (Associate Prof Urdu, Ain Shams University, Cairo Egypt) said that the India and Egypt have unique histories, cultures and languages that have evolved over millennia, and their interconnections and influences provide a rich field for exploration in academic and cultural contexts.
She said that India is the birthplace of the Urdu and still India has more Urdu speaking population than Pakistan and Egyptian consider Urdu as an Indian Language.
Dr Walaa said that the impact of Urdu in Egypt has significant role as the impact of other languages and has had influence and presence in Egypt in various contexts. Urdu-speaking scholars, writers, and artists from South Asia participate in academic and cultural exchange programs, where they share their expertise and contribute to the cultural diversity of Egypt.
Speaking on Literature and Poetry Dr Walaa Jamal said that Urdu literature and poetry, with its rich tradition of poets like Mirza Ghalib and Allama Iqbal, found a niche audience among who are interested in South Asian literature and poetry in Egypt.
Speaking on the Cultural similarities Between India and Egypt Host of the Webinar Dr Hafeezur Rahman said that India has a rich history dating back thousands of years, with the Indus Valley Civilization being one of the world’s earliest urban civilizations and in the same way Egypt has one of the world’s oldest civilizations, with a history spanning over 5,000 years.
Dr Rahman said that Urdu as a language developed and progress in India the geographical part which is called the motherland of Urdu remains in India even after partition whereas Pakistan makes false claim on Urdu.
